The Irish Pony Club is the main equestrian organisation that provides training in all disciplines of equestrian activities and is open to young people up to the age of 23.

The objectives of the Irish Pony Club are: -

  • To encourage young people to ride and learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
  • provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instil in members the proper care of their animals.
  • promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self discipline


Founded in 1956 The Island Hunt Branch of the Irish Pony Club has members from all over North Wexford. The Island Hunt Branch aims to offer a range of equestrian activities to cater both for the competitive and non-competitive rider with emphasis at all times on good sportsmanship and fair play.

Activities within the Branch include:

  • Show Jumping
  • Dressage
  • Eventing
  • Hunter Trials
  • Pony Games
  • Minimus/Tetrathlon
  • Fun Rideouts and Club Trips
  • Camps
